Whole Life: The Cornerstone of Generational Wealth

9 whole life policies. 5 people at my dinner table

My wife, our three kids, and me. Some of our policies are in dollars, some in bitcoin. Now I help families across the DMV lay the same long-lasting foundation, planned around your goals.

Built to last your lifetime. Designed to outlive it.

What whole life gives you

A policy built once, thoughtfully, that keeps working for you and your family for decades.

For your family
01

Lifelong Protection

Protection for your whole life, at a premium locked in while you're healthy.

02

Legacy & Inheritance

Leave your family a check, not a to-do list, whenever that day comes.

03

Guaranteed Growth

Watch your cash value rise every year by contract, with the chance of dividends on top.

04

Liquidity on Demand

Borrow against your policy for any reason, on your timeline, with no credit application.

For your money
05

Portfolio Anchor

A steady reserve whose guaranteed value doesn't fall when markets or interest rates do.

06

Tax Advantages

Tax-deferred growth, and a death benefit that's generally income-tax-free for the people you love.

07

Estate Planning

Ready cash for your heirs when Maryland or DC estate taxes come due.

08

Asset Protection

State law may help shield your policy's value from creditors. Learn how it works where you live.

For your plan
09

Business Continuity

Fund your buy-sell promise so the business you built can carry on without you.

10

Retirement Confidence

Spend your retirement savings with more confidence, knowing your legacy is already in place.

11

Certainty & Discipline

A savings habit with a contract behind it, from companies that have kept promises for generations.

12

Bitcoin Whole Life

Education from a fellow bitcoiner: how whole life fits a low-time-preference family plan.

Guarantees depend on premiums being paid and the issuing insurer's claims-paying ability. Dividends are not guaranteed. Policy loans accrue interest and reduce the death benefit and cash value if unpaid.

Who it's for

If you're building something worth keeping, whole life gives it a foundation.

Young families

Lock in lifelong protection early, while you're young and coverage costs less.

Parents & grandparents

Start a policy for a child or grandchild and hand them a head start that lasts their whole life.

Professionals

Turn strong earning years into a planned, long-lasting asset your family can count on.

Pre-retirees

Secure the legacy you want to leave, with values that don't swing with the market.

Small business owners

Protect your family and what you've built, with cash value you can tap when opportunity knocks.

Freelancers & the self-employed

No employer plan? Build your own foundation, with coverage that follows you from gig to gig and cash value you control.

Why it matters here in the DMV

Few places in the country make whole life more valuable than here. Maryland's estate tax starts at $5M, DC's at about $4.99M, and both are a third of the federal $15M threshold. Maryland also has a 10% inheritance tax on some heirs. With home values, retirement accounts, and business equity here, families in Arlington, Bethesda, and Capitol Hill can cross those lines without realizing it. A whole life policy can deliver ready cash to cover those taxes, so your heirs keep the house, the business, and the legacy you built.

The right structure matters, so I work with your estate attorney, CPA, and tax advisor to make sure the policy fits your plan.

Why sooner is smarter:

  • Your premium is locked at today's age and health. Every year you wait, it rises, and a health change could put coverage out of reach.
  • Your cash value starts compounding now, and you can use it during your lifetime. You don't have to wait for it to pay off at death.
  • Transfers to a trust can take years to count. If you move an existing policy into a trust and die within 3 years, the death benefit can be pulled back into your estate. Having the trust buy the policy from the start avoids that wait.
  • Gifts made each year add up. Annual gift-tax-free gifts to a trust can pay the premiums over time and shrink your taxable estate along the way.

A real conversation

We talk about your family, your goals, and your financial situation holistically. No pressure, no script.

Independent shopping

I use a best-in-class platform that gives me access to 130+ top-rated U.S. carriers. I compare them on your behalf and recommend the one that best fits you, not whichever pays me most.

Thoughtful design

I structure your policy around your timeline, for lifelong protection, cash value, and legacy.

Coordinated with your advisors

I work alongside your attorney, CPA, and financial advisor rather than replacing them.

Annual reviews

I stay with you after the policy is in force, and we review it every year as life changes.

Meet Gus Calderón

Discipline. Determination. Client focus. The same three things, for 30 years.

For two decades, government agency leaders trusted me with some of their highest-stakes decisions. I advised CFOs, CIOs, and contracting officers on complex acquisitions, managed large IT programs, and made sure every dollar was spent wisely and every rule was followed. That work taught me that the best outcomes come from careful planning, honest advice, and putting the client's mission ahead of everything else.

I built that same approach into my own company. Over 26 years, I grew a government contracting firm from the ground up to a successful exit. I didn't get there with shortcuts. I got there by showing up, keeping my word, and building relationships that lasted.

Outside work, I hold myself to the same standard. I've finished four Ironman triathlons and the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon four times, and I train year-round for marathons, endurance rides, and the backcountry. Long races are won with preparation, patience, and grit, and so is a lasting financial foundation.

Now I bring all of it to one mission: helping families across Virginia, Maryland, and DC build generational wealth on whole life. I hold 9 policies across my own family of five, so I've made the same decisions I'll help you make. I work solo and independently, so you'll work with me from your first conversation through every annual review, with no hand-offs.

For bitcoiners

Yes, bitcoin-denominated whole life is real

My family owns it. I've held Bitcoin for 9 years, and I'm a policyholder of bitcoin-denominated whole life, not a seller of it. I teach how it works: how premiums, cash value, and the death benefit are measured in ₿, and what to look at before you consider it.

For dollar-denominated whole life, I'm your licensed agent in VA, MD, and DC. Many bitcoiners hold both.

Let's build yours, carefully.

A foundation meant to last generations shouldn't be rushed. We'll start with a conversation about your family and your goals. Then I'll do the homework: comparing carriers, testing designs, and checking how the policy fits with your attorney, CPA, and advisors. You'll get a clear recommendation and the time to think it over. We move forward only when it's right, and then we review it together every year as your life changes.

Time is on your side. The best day to lay a cornerstone is the one you start planning it.
